Basmati paddy price slides in India due to tepid global demand, higher output

India is the largest exporter of basmati rice and its price is a function of global trade. A decline of 10% in price was recorded in the first five months of the current financial year. During the period, the country exported 1.66 million tonnes of basmati compared with 1.85 million tonnes in the same period last year.
